Endometriosis Awareness Month

Tomorrow, Padma Lakshmi is hosting her 4th Annual Blossom Ball at the New York Public Library in honor of National Endometriosis Awareness Month.  Endometriosis, a painful condition affecting 5-10% of women ( that’s 1 in 10! ) is the most common cause of pelvic pain and infertility.  Padma Lakshmi, part of Danskin’s Move for Change, has not only been affected by the condition but also founded an organization to increase the awareness in hopes of increasing early diagnosis and treatment.

Most women go undiagnosed with the disease which causes terribly painful periods, chronic pelvic pain, infertility, heavy bleeding, fatigue, nausea, bloating, and abdominal cramping. It's most active during a woman’s prime reproductive years and estimates suggest that anywhere from 20%-50% of women being treated for infertility, suffer from endometriosis.

Padma, long suffering with the debilitating effects of the condition, healthily and happily has a two year old daughter, which she feared would never be possible.

This month, find out how you can help support and raise awareness with Padma and the “The Endometriosis Foundation of America” at http://www.endofound.org/
